Social Europe works, says Commission

The European Year of Safety, Hygiene and Health Protection at Work was marked in 1992. It was designated partly to show the need for the social dimension of the European Single Market. The Year cost 12 million European Currency Units. Its main activities were aimed at risky industries, young people starting work and smaller companies. Activities included awards for education and training initiatives and another for articles in company sponsored publications.

Law Commission wants new offense of corporate killing
Article Abstract:
The recently proposed Corporate killing offence has been put forward by the British Law Commission to addresses fatalities caused because of a corporation's poor management. Corporate manslaughter is similar in many ways to corporate killing although it is aimed at a person or persons rather than the corporation itself. Organisations such as the Labour party and CBI are doubtful about the new offense because its similarity to corporate manslaughter.

Ignorance undermining Disability Discrimination Act, says think tank
Article Abstract:
A report by the Employment Rights Institute proposes changes to the 1996 Disability Discrimination Act. The institute wants the small employer exemption removed and to see cancer and HIV as permitted disabilities under the Act.
