The Family and Medical Leave Act in court: a review of key appeals court cases five years after

Article Abstract:

Legal research on the number of cases brought into appeals court regarding the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) of 1993 is evaluated. The author finds that 177 FMLA cases have been reviewed by courts, 56 of which dealt with job security, while 49 dealt with the seriousness of employees' sickness.

The relative importance of demand, supply, and networks and subsequent niche formation in New York taxi industry labor market is examined. The dominance of Punjabi taxi drivers in this industry is also noticed.
