Costs count: a Best's Policy Reports survey examines the costs incurred with the life insurance portion of variable universal life policies
Article Abstract:
The costs incurred by the life insurance portion of a variable universal life policy can be substantial, although they are often overlooked in comparisons that usually focus on fund performance. Charges incurred by the policyholder include the charge for the death benefit, policy loads and fees, and administrative charges known as mortality and expense charges. A chart comparing the costs created by the policies of many different companies is provided.
