Bank/insurance rivalry inches toward conciliation
Article Abstract:
The banking and insurance industries are gradually working their way towards accommodation instead of confrontation over offering products and services outside their main areas of business, which would result in their tapping into each other's area of activity. Efforts by Congress to reform the Glass-Steagall Act potentially promise major changes for these industries stemming from deregulation. Members of the American Council on Life Insurance are meeting with representatives from the Bankers Roundtable to address issues pertaining to both industry's concerns.
