Following business abroad
Article Abstract:
Insurance corporations are acquiring market shares on foreign shores in response to the opportunity of regulatory liberalization around the world. These insurers are advised to develop a reputation for local expertise and knowledge, and are encouraged to establish a presence in the countries where their clients set up operations to develop a strong bond with these clients, thereby contributing to effective global expansion. Companies must then focus on building economics within the group by cross-selling services and products and fusing backoffice functions upon creating a strong global image.

Succeeding in the competitive commercial lines marketplace
Article Abstract:
Several factors contribute to the success of commercial lines insurance agents and writers. Underwriters and agents need to think and act like owners of a successful small business. They are also urged to respond to customers' needs in a timely fashion. Moreover, an insurance firm's organization should effectively manage loss costs and bring about a competitive cost structure to enable underwriters and agents to adapt to market conditions.

Will the industry speak one language in future?
Article Abstract:
The American Assn of Managing General Agents (AAMGA) and others within the insurance industry believe that the flow of insurance information can best be streamlined by developing a standard insurance form. Such a form could be used to communicate information electronically. The AAMGA is developing a draft document that it will submit for review by a variety of insurance entities.
