Getting older: getting harder
Article Abstract:
An earlier practice of providing retiree health benefits for young retirees, who do not have access to Medicare coverage, was to provide bridge coverage until Medicare was available. This practice was questioned in the court ruling of Erie County Retirees Association v. The County of Erie. The court ruled that the different retiree health benefits based on Medicare eligibility was in violation of the Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA).
