Four opportunities to improve the effectiveness and impact of share-based reward programs and to manage costs in the current changing and challenging environment for equity-based compensation are presented. The companies who make modifications to compensation programs in a strategic and systematic manner will be in a better position to improve the pay for performance line-of-sight and the bottom line.

Change-in-control severance arrangements: practical considerations
Article Abstract:
Issues concerning change-in-control severance arrangements are discussed. Change-in-control severance protection must be attractive enough to overcome resistance to a possible business partnership, but not sufficiently attractive to encourage top executives to leave after a deal.
