Ratings activity in the health and life insurance segments is expected to accelerate in 1997 due to dynamic market conditions. Insurers who focus on strategic positioning and value creating and remain financially flexible are likely to receive favorable ratings, despite sluggish revenue growth. A.M. Best maintains a mixed rating outlook for the health insurance segment and a generally negative outlook for life insurers.
