Article Abstract:
The trends in property and casualty insurance industry are analyzed and forecasts are made for 2005. It is observed that the premiums have been rising slowly in the industry but rising all the same. Mergers and acquisition activities in the industry however have remained subdued. The inadequacy of resources for claims related to Asbestos is also discussed. Recent scandals in the industry relating to bid rigging are also discussed.

Property and casualty insurance industry in United States reported profits, in spite of higher catastrophe claims due to the impact of Hurricanes in 2005. The industry is expected to mark record earnings in 2006 as insurers are planning to shield them selves with financial protection in hurricane season.
