Information on US- and foreign-based insurance companies can be obtained by perusing market research reports prepared by consulting organizations and security analysts. Directories of trade associations are also possibly good sources for company information that have never seen print in the business press. Other sources of information include indexing and abstracting services, trade publications, the general and business press, company newsletters and electronic information services.

Linking claim trends with the underwriting process - a reinsurer's claim viewpoint
Article Abstract:
Insurers are faced with an ever increasing roster of claims issues aside from traditional natural catastrophes such as earthquakes or hurricanes. Emerging issues include product liability claims concerning the health hazards of latex gloves, issues on sexual harassment, construction flaws and electronic communication. Insurance firms can rely on its own claim data bases on past cases to view histories and take appropriate action to avert possible legal setbacks.
