Article Abstract:
Employers can minimize the costs of providing health care benefits to retirees through the use of Medicare Risk Arrangements. These are health care programs offered by health maintenance organizations with prior approval from the Health Care Financing Agency. In this program, the agency develops a formula for the monthly payments of participants. The agency's unique reimbursement method allows HMOs to offer added benefits to retirees.
