Review of 1992 P/C Best's rating assignments
Article Abstract:
A.M. Best Company changed its ratings for over 990 property and casualty insurers during annual and 1st qtr reviews in 1992. Some of these changes were due to modification of Best's rating structure, but most were due to changes in company performance. These changes are reviewed in detail and trends during the last five years are analyzed. Topics include the downward trend in ratings, rating distribution: 1991 vs. 1992; the compression of rating distribution; rating changes in the top 100 companies; and a forecast for 1992 and thereafter.
