Technology: knowing the customer
Article Abstract:
Rapid technological advances have challenged the insurance industry to serve customers in a more efficient manner and to manage their assets and perform risk and pricing management through improved methods. However, technology has also introduced never-ending standards for performance and has presented insurers with complex challenges such as the use of growing Internet capabilities and new upgraded systems. Furthermore, the emergence of innovative decision-making tools, known as 'dynamic financial analysis models,' has resulted from reserve pricing and adequacy and the integration of asset allocation in a fluid marketplace.

Strategies can control multiplying ADA lawsuits
Article Abstract:
Corporations need to develop strategies to curtail the number of frivolous lawsuits which are being filed under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). These lawsuits are undermining the ADA's principal intent which was to increase employment opportunities for disabled people. Employers are increasingly refusing to hire disabled people for fear of being hit with ADA suits. Measures which could be taken by employers to protect themselves from ADA suits include providing more thorough job descriptions for disabled applicants and setting disciplining guidelines for firing employees.
