Computers can't replace the personal touch
Article Abstract:
Computers and office automation are not a substitute for personal communication. Insurance agents need to develop frequent, personalized communication with their clients and policyholders instead of hiding behind automated procedures and computer generated form letters. Often customers built long-term, profitable relationships with their agents, not with particular insurers; so personal communication is essential to an agent's success.

Impaired risk cases need agents' special handling
Article Abstract:
Insurance agents should take proactive steps to handle impaired risks when underwriting life insurance policies. Agents should ascertain the client's lifestyle and activities, such as exercise, medication and medical conditions. Such information should be conveyed clearly to insurers to avoid undue reactions from negative information in the policy.
