The United States and East Asia after Iraq
Article Abstract:
Asian analysts see Iraq as a distraction for the United States both from global counter-terrorism efforts and strategic development in Asia and would welcome more U.S. attention and resources to be devoted to Asia. The negative impact on the U.S. image in Asia will increase if U.S. commitment in Iraq drags on for years or if it is forced to withdraw leaving behind a chaotic situation.
