Brazil and Lula, 2005: Crisis, corruption and change in political perspective
Article Abstract:
The election of Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva (Lula) in 2002 as president of Brazil was a new beginning since he was the first working man to come to power and also the leader of the Partido dos Trabalhadores PT), the Workers' party. The crisis faced by the party due to the revelations of a corruption scandal in 2005 is seen in a wider political perspective and its impact on the PT, which promised a stable democracy in 2002 and even in 2004.

Revising the democratic revolution-into the Americas
Article Abstract:
The meaning of democracy in this revolution is to promote power against human needs and rights. The claims of the democratic peace thesis is examined, by tracing the embedding of democracy in three countries Nicaragua, Brazil and Columbia.

Building a global Southern coalition: the competing approaches of Brazil's Lula and Venezuela's Chavez

The article compares the regional leadership strategies of Brazilian President Lula da Silva and Venezuela's Hugo Chavez. The approaches are vastly different, but both work toward the creation of a global South American coalition.
