Globalization and change in the international political economy
Article Abstract:
The globalization phenomenon has refocused attention on the various changes that have taken place in the international political economy. An examination of ubiquitous, significant and transformational changes in the global economy shows that patterns of development in the economic and political realms have been evolving steadily, leading to a new paradigm for world development based on a nation's ability to interact with foreign markets.

This article addresses the nature of politics in the Middle East which is a combination of economic and political liberalization/democratization, and domestic and international security issues, including Arab-Israeli conflicts. The Euro-Mediterranean Partnership Initiative is discussed as an attempt to bring Europe and the Middle East together over economic and political issues.

This article evaluates the global social effects of market liberalization since the 1980s, by highlighting the need of individuals, organizations and governments to counter the abuses and excesses of capitalist societies. The need to continue global development is emphasized, asserting that the benefits need to effect more people.
