Democratisation and the prospects for participatory regionalism in Southeast Asia
Article Abstract:
A conceptual model, for analyzing the relationship between democratization and regionalism, is proposed. The realization of a more 'participatory regionalism' in Southeast Asia faces a number of barriers, including obstacles to further democratization and the diminished space for civil society in the wake of the September 11 terrorist attacks.
