Divergent politico-legal responses to past presidential corruption in Zambia and Kenya: Catching the 'big fish', or letting him off the hook?
Article Abstract:
A study of presidential prosecution that is pursued in Zambia, but is not being followed in Kenya, in spite of a number of similarities between the two states is presented. Five suggestions for circumstances under which past presidents may face prosecution in fragile African democracies are presented with each suggestion assuming that the predecessor president engaged in some form of corruption and that the prospective prosecution is not spurious.
