Issues related to the care of refugees seeking asylum in Europe are examined. Topics include the history of European policy regarding refugees, differences between liberal and conservative approaches to refugees in the early 21st century, and the need for European countries to share the burden in order to sustain a liberal universalist policy toward refugees.

This article addresses the immigration policies of the United Kingdom and Europe. The author argues the United Kingdom and Europe have become increasingly restrictive towards immigration in which they are not discriminating between asylum seekers and other immigrants, resulting in the rights of asylum seekers not being protected.
