Law transformed: Guantanamo and the 'other' exception

Article Abstract:

A study questioning the endorsement of the rule of law by human rights lawyers, activists and politicians against the exception of Guantanamo is illustrated. Law cannot regulate irregular combatants, however, the exception of international humanitarian or domestic constitutional law is not the same as the exceptional space of Guantanamo or the exceptional practices of the war on terror.

International environmental law, water and the future

Article Abstract:

The problems of fresh water scarcity and the responses of international law and policy to this emerging global threat to human health and environment are emphasized. The moral principles of international human rights and economic principles of free market ideology to solve the problem of access to fresh water resources for the future are evaluated.

Land reform in Zimbabwe

Article Abstract:

An ethical case for land redistribution in Zimbabwe, based on principles of social justice and equity, drawing from a brief history of land in Zimbabwe from the first European expulsions up to independence, is examined. The objections to land reform related to issues of compensation and legality is evaluated.
