Resistance in the age of empire: Occupied discourse pending investigation
Article Abstract:
Key contemporary initiatives seeking to invoke international legal norms to temper and control intervention and occupation are examined to reflect on the post-9/11 world of empire and the challenges it poses for resistance in international law. It is concluded that these initiatives aimed to temper and protest at intervention and occupation, only contributed to the production of legitimacy for empire.

There is a consensus on the need for an effective and benevolent form of global governance following globalization, the terror attacks of 9/11 and the USA's war on terror. After weighing the different approaches being taken towards global governance, it is concluded that a post-Westphalian solution based on a law-oriented approach would strive for global justice and global democracy.
