NATO's Combined Joint Task Forces in theory and practice
Article Abstract:
A NATO initiative in 1994 to adopt a Combined Joint Task Force (CJTF) method intends to enhance its military capabilities during international crises. The initiative, which comes in the wake of the Cold War, is far from being operational as disagreement over NATO's future role has stymied its political direction. Speedy political agreement will enhance capabilities of CJTF, as is evident from the success of a similar joint command and control in the Persian Gulf War in 1991.
