So what really is the problem about corruption?

Article Abstract:

Much research on political corruption has distinguished between neo-patrimonial and its supposed opposite, the "modern" state. Careful examination of criteria shows these terms are more descriptive than substantive, and that both characterizations are equally susceptible to political corruption.

New concepts for old?

Article Abstract:

Concepts of corruption developed in the 1990s are essentially attempts to explain the economic circumstances giving rise to corruption rather than original definitions of this issue. The most important task is consistent adherence to a definition relevant to a particular research project.
