Terrorism cuts across the East and the West: deconstructing Lewis's Orientalism
Article Abstract:
The issue with Professor Bernard Lewis over some of the theses discussed in his recently published book What Went Wrong? Western Impact and Middle Eastern Response, is presented. Reasons that gave rise to the political, ideological and violent struggles between Arabs, Muslims and finally fundamentalist Muslim terrorists of today, and the West are mentioned.

Islam and the West in world history
Article Abstract:
The nature of the relations between Islam and West over the centuries concludes that convergence between them is not likely, grounds for mutual tolerance and co-existence that have always existed and may exist in future too. Examination of the intellectual, social, economic and political trends are also done.

The crucial importance of migration and remigration to and from the Caribbean and its diaspora centers is of prime focus. A sample of nineteenth and early twentieth century constructions of the colonial of the colonial West Indies by women is surveyed and compared with contemporary visual representations.
