The demographics of genocide: refugees and territorial loss in the mass murder of European Jewry
Article Abstract:
The mass murder of European Jewry during 1941-1945, the principal genocidal component of the Holocaust both in its origins in Germany and Austria, and in its implementation in Nazi-dominated Europe, is described. The consequences of demographic change, especially refugee influx, frequently associated with territorial loss, on the propensity for states to commit or participate in genocide are examined.

Demography, migration and conflict in the Pacific
Article Abstract:
An attempt is made to explore the relationships between demography and internal conflict in the Pacific Island countries, focusing on the three subregions Poynesia, Micronesia and Melanesia. It is observed that demographic pressure created by rapid population growth results in the lack of employment opportunities for youths rather than in direct pressure on land and other natural resources.

The destructiveness of pre-industrial warfare: Political and technological determinants
Article Abstract:
An issue on the demographic impact of warfare in pre-industrial Europe and the consequences of the adoption of firearms from the early 16th century is presented. It is found that gunpowder weapons initially reduced military costs, but this trend was reversed as warships and fortifications became more expensive and armies acquired more sophisticated sub-unit organization.
