Article Abstract:
It is possible to view security studies as involving a four-stroke cycle covering injection, compression, ignition and power. Investigating each of these phases makes it possible to assess why difficulties can arise when using a security studies approach to consider current global issues. The power stroke in the four-stroke cycle of security studies has not yet taken place, but it could. Circumstances are now causing doubts to be raised about what were once the most fixed elements of security studies.
