Virtual nuclear arsenals
Article Abstract:
Sweden's proposal for disassembling existing nuclear weapons while retaining the facilities and parts for rearmament, leaving countries with virtual nuclear arsenals. This plan, if implemented, could pave the way for international security and give impetus to the non-proliferation program but it could also give rise to the problem of monitoring reassembling. It remains to be seen how the superpowers with operational nuclear forces are going to react to this plan for disarmament.

Assessing virtual nuclear arsenals
Article Abstract:
The phrase 'virtual nuclear-weapons arsenal' continues to remain ambiguous although it has been adopted in the subject of arms control, nuclear non-proliferation and nuclear strategy. To further complicate matters, the phrase is also used in at least two, clearly different ways, each with very different policy implications. Virtual nuclear-weapons arsenals, the emergence of the phrase, its usage and the accompanying connotations are evaluated.

Apocalypse now - or never?
Article Abstract:
A study on the threats posed by nuclear, chemical or biological terrorism is evaluated. It is argued that the study's assumptions that threats should be evaluated based on technological possibilities and that abstract vulnerabilities imply disastrous consequences are flawed. It is also argued that the study overstates the consequences of these threats as well as the effectiveness of the proposed technical solutions to these threats.
