A difficult client; Unabomber lawyer outlines a strategy he never used
Article Abstract:
Lawyer for accused Unabomber Theodore Kaczynski acknowledges that he would have faced a difficult task persuading the California jury to spare the life of his client as federal prosecutors had assembled such a detailed case and the guilt of the client seemed so assured. An additional factor was the resistance of Kaczynski to the insanity defense his counsel wanted to argue. Both sides before the start of the trial accepted a plea bargain in which Kaczynski accepted a life sentence without parole, admitted to his offenses and forfeited appeal rights.

Tempting targets; mass-tort lawyer among those facing criminal charges
Article Abstract:
South Carolina has obtained criminal indictments against four Houston lawyers, including mass tort specialist John O'Quinn, for the felony charges of conspiracy and unauthorized practice of law, as well as the misdemeanor ones of soliciting clients and fee splitting. Although a crime in many states, indictments for in-person solicitation have taken place very rarely.
