Article Abstract:

While lawyers may face the same security threats as other businesses, law firms often have less sophisticated information systems support. BEcause they are less dependednt on high volumes of computer transactions, law firms make smaller investments into tech support, thus making themselves more vulnerable to hacker or cracker attacks. The increasing prevalence of 'always-on' and high-speed Internet access adds to the risk. Despite the onslaught of crackers, however, the primary source of attacks is the disgruntled insider. In the legal industry, most security breaches are inside jobs.

Chronotopes: of/in the televisualization of the 1992 Los Angeles Riots

Article Abstract:

The television portrayals of the 1992 riots in Los Angeles established the perceptions of spatiality and temporality through chronotopes, where the past and present Los Angeles were compared. The traditional associations with Los Angeles as the American Dream were temporarily replaced with a world of violence and multiple races, showing how the riots threatened middle-class white areas. The very language used often referred to the Los Angeles of the past or being a specific distance from where it all began with the implication of also being distant from when it all began.
