Babe Ruth: the sultan of legal cites? Yup
Article Abstract:
George Herman 'Babe' Ruth appears more often in US legal writing than any other name, according to research by law professor Robert Jarvis. In a paper presented at Hofstra U conference 'Baseball and the Sultan of Swat,' he claimed Babe's 'name is mentioned ... 10 times more often than anyone else.' Yet Babe Ruth was named in only two lawsuits and used only four lawyers in his life. His popularity in legal writing arises from his mythic proportions and the applicability of his famous abilities to other fields of endeavor.

Quality legal aid: going, going, gone
Article Abstract:
Efforts in NYC to contain the costs of indigent criminal defense have shown insight but are in some ways seriously flawed. As in other urban areas nationwide, NYC, under Mayor Rudolph Giuliani's leadership, is using contract bids to privatize much of the work done by the public defender agency and such non-profit contract agencies as the highly regarded Neighborhood Defender Services. Judicial oversight and funding for the Indigent Defense Oversight Committee remain problematic, however.
