Because reform of worldwide business ethics will likely be delayed, the U.S. government may help companies avert corruption in foreign procurements
Article Abstract:
The Foreign Corrupt Practices Act of 1977 bars US companies from engaging in bribery or other corrupt practices to gain foreign government contracts. US firms suffer because other industrial nations, such as France and Germany, do not impose such regulations on their native firms. International efforts to establish a standard code of business ethics proceed slowly. US firms should seek assistance from US government agencies and officials, such as the CIA, who are willing to help them battle international corruption. International organizations, such as the World Bank, also offer aid in fighting corruption.

Principles for global corporate responsibility
Article Abstract:
The Principles for Global Corporate Responsibility, formulated by three religious faith groups from UK, US, and Canada, call for a new model relationship between communities and corporations, emphasizing sustainable economic development and a paramount concern for human rights and dignity. The principles maintain corporations have a positive role to play in sustaining their communities. Although regional codes of conduct have been developed, global codes are needed in a world economy dominated by transnational corporations.
