Bent on original intent; Justice Thomas is asserting a distinct and cohesive vision
Article Abstract:
Clarence Thomas's influence on the US Supreme Court five years into his ascension to its bench reveal a spokesman for interpreting the constitution within the strict doctrine of original intent. Through this approach, Thomas seeks to achieve what he sees as the right distribution of power between the three branches of the federal government. Thomas believes that the judiciary has exercised undue power in recent decades as a result of misguided Supreme Court rulings. He wants states left to handle their own affairs, which includes the administration of prisons.

Professionalism in practice
Article Abstract:
A judge, a law school dean, and three practicing lawyers, one a sole practitioner, bring different perspectives to a discussion of the state of professionalism in the legal profession. The growing talk of professionalism and its emphasis in many law schools may be due to the many instances of malpractice in law. The economic pressures to generate a certain number of billable hours also puts a pressure on professionalism. Lawyers are protectors of the Constitution and and as soon as they lose their independence, they have lost something important.
