Bracing for the millennium bug; consider liability coverage to protect businesses facing Y2K claims
Article Abstract:
Possible Y2K liability increases for companies regardless of steps they take to make their computer systems Y2K compliant. This is why businesses and their lawyers should consider how insurance policies can be used to cushion against claims. Directors and officers insurance, commercial general liability insurance, and business interruption insurance are the three choices which may provide some coverage, and several insurance companies are selling year 2000 policies written on a claims-made basis.

Shopping for malpractice insurance; there is more than cost to consider
Article Abstract:
Attorneys would be well advised to consider the following factors when purchasing malpractice insurance. They need to make sure the deductible covers defense costs and that they have the right to select defense counsel. It is wise to see if the insurer is allowed to settle without consent before purchasing a policy. Another consideration is policy coverage of sanctions and of prior acts. Limits on deductibles should also be looked into.

Yes: consider chemical treatment
Article Abstract:
Chemical castration as a voluntary punishment alternative is in the best interests of both society and the sex offender. It involves the use of hormone suppressors, most commonly Depo-Provera, and research suggests that it is effective when combined with counseling. Recidivism rates are below 5%. Advocating an effective treatment does not condone the conduct, it protects possible victims.
