Budget 1997 analysis
Article Abstract:
The UK Labor Party's employment measures are analyzed in conjunction with the forecasts of 10 independent economists. Labor's program focuses on jobs for youth, investment incentives, and economic stability. Their tax proposals cover a number of areas such as the windfall tax and trade debt arrangements. Economists predict strong economic growth, inflationary pressure, a tight labor market, and stable pay increases. Higher interest rates may become necessary to control the economy. Inflation and the labor market could pull wages higher.
