Coming home to Kafka
Article Abstract:
An American, after living and working in Canada for 18 years, decides to retire and move back to the States. However, he soon encounters a bureaucratic maze of confusing and absurb government regulation. His problems were compounded since he wanted to bring along his British-born wife, their pet Amazon parrot, furniture and car. Obtaining clearances for the parrot and car, he soon found out, was far more complex than obtaining clearance for his foreign-born wife.
