Conflictive partnership: a strategy for real world labor-management cooperation
Article Abstract:
The emerging paradigm for labor-management cooperation in an age of fierce competiveness is that of conflictive partnership. Union leaders must help employers to be profitable in addition to their traditional activities of advocating for increased wages and benefits for workers. Unionized companies can be a competitive asset and seem preferable to non-unionized ones if the union helps employers to make a profit. The labor-management relationship will seem more important if unions help their companies achieve profitability.

Manitoba's experience with final offer selection: a comment
Article Abstract:
Lawrence Kelly's argument is that final offer selection (FOS) is prejudiced in favor of trade unions. This is only nominally true. FOS is used primarily by workers from small bargaining units, which are characteristic of the jobs most prevalent in today's economy. These workers may be denied the option of a strike because of their lack of bargaining power and it is to help them that FOS was conceived.
