Article Abstract:
Hillary Rodham Clinton, as a prominent woman attorney and First Lady of the U.S., has helped to redefine women's roles. As chair of the Task Force on Health Care Reform, she showed an impressive ability to grasp the complexities of the problem and communicate them to a variety of groups. Mrs. Clinton has long been an advocate on children's issues, and was chairman of the board of the Children's Defense Fund. She instituted the Home Instruction Program for Preschool Youngsters in Arkansas, modeled on a program in Israel. Biographical information includes a listing of publications, honors and awards, and memberships and associations.

The 1991 volume of 'Annual Survey of American Law' is dedicated to Martin Lipton, partner at Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz and a leader in corporate law. He is most noted as the originator of the 'poison pill' takeover defense and has been an active participant in the Corporate Governance project of the American Law Institute. Recently he has proposed five-year terms for corporate directors.
