Does economic growth foster political freedom?
Article Abstract:
Economic globalization is perceived to lead to a democratization of society where opportunities for development are abundant and human rights is observed. However, amidst economic globalization, a reported 292 communal groups, making up one fifth of the world's population, have advocated political autonomy and are seeking a stop to discrimination within their respective nations. Also during the current phase of economic globalization in the 1950s and 1960s, non-violent protest movements doubled and violent communal action quadrupled.
