The author discusses efforts to revise the Uniform Mediation Act, ethics issues confronting third-party neutrals, and the role of attorneys as third-party neutrals. Topics include the question of whether alternative dispute resolution methods constitute the practice of law.

The advantages of applying the structure of charitable foundations to insurance company corporate reorganizations are outlined. The drawbacks of creating a charitable foundation by demutualizing/reorganizing insurers are also discussed.
