Explaining accommodation and resistance in Kentucky
Article Abstract:
This article examines the economic and social conditions of Kentucky. The author argues that Kentucky counties suffer from industrial exploitation and an inordinate amount of social control which leads to criminal activity among the residents, and maintains increased marijuana production has risen in reaction to economic exploitation, whereas child abuse has risen due to excessive physical labor demands.

An ethnostatistical comparison of the forms and levels of woman battering in urban and rurual areas of Kentucky
Article Abstract:
Similar rates of violence against women occur in rural and urban areas of Kentucky. While overall rates appear to be the same, researchers explore the differences in sexual abuse, emotional abuse, and physical abuse experienced by battered women in urban versus rural areas, and the cultural and social reasons for this difference.
