Fears about post-transfer terms not a breach of trust
Article Abstract:
The British Employment Appeals Tribunal ruled in Sita (GB) Ltd. v. Burton that an employer relocating its business cannot breach its implied contractual duty of trust and confidence just because of its employees' fear that the prospective transferee intends substantial changes to their work after the business transfer. The Transfer of Undertakings Regulations provide a partial answer because they give a remedy to any transferee attempt to change those terms unlawfully after transfer.

Award for injury to feelings was excessive
Article Abstract:
The Northern Ireland Court of Appeal ruled in McConnell v. Police Authority for Northern Ireland that L10,000 in damages for a Roman Catholic job applicant to the Police Authority of Northern Ireland who suffered hurt feelings for religious discrimination when not offered a job was excessive. The Fair Employment Tribunal had no grounds for its assumption that religious discrimination deserved higher damages than race or sex discrimination.
