Foreign stocks, domestic insurance, and the New York Stock Exchange
Article Abstract:
The SEC's policy requiring foreign companies to comply with US accounting standards is misguided because it prevents the New York Stock Exchange from carrying a wide variety of foreign stocks. The trend toward diversification into international stocks among insurance companies means that US stockholders are still getting foreign stocks but through more volatile markets. The assumption that US accounting standards are better than international standards is outdated as is the belief in the US competitive advantage. Therefore, blocking the stocks is only hurting Americans.

ADA, insurance, and employee benefits
Article Abstract:
The effects of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) on employee sponsored healthcare plans have yet to be full realised, but there are some things that have become too clear. It is clear that benefits must be equally available to all employees, regardless of disabilities. Other issues which are less well understood, including the enforcement of the ADA, mandated benefits, the effect on self-insured plans, wellness plans, workers' comp and leave of absence laws, are discussed.
