Collaborating doctors: potential price-fixers? Though medical networks enjoy lenient antitrust treatment, many seek more protection
Article Abstract:
Physician networks have generally received favorable antitrust review, but the risks posed by potential per se price fixing liability have led health care providers to ask lawmakers to broaden industry protections. A network of physicians can avoid scrutiny by demonstrating that financial risk is shared and by showing that less than 20% of physicians in each specialty in the area participate if the network is exclusive or less than 30% if it is non-exclusive. Legislation proposed in Congress would require that a number of additional requirements be met for the per se rule to apply.

Troubled airport's legal fees cause Denver grumbles; two SEC investigations help run up $10 million in fees for a dozen firms
Article Abstract:
Denver International Airport opened Feb 28 after a year and a half of delays but legal bills continue to mount, with City Council members and others complaining about the fees. The $4 billion project has generated $10 million in work for local and out-of-state lawyers, half of it related to land acquisition for the biggest airport in the world. The automated baggage system caused most of the delays, and it triggered one of the two Securities and Exchange Commission investigations that have bumped fees up $3 million.
