Intergenerational accord eases estate planning; children who are included in family estate planning are less likely to later challenge the will
Article Abstract:
Parents of some means struggle with how to combine wise estate planning and good parenting. Too much indulgence of children can be crippling and make it hard for children to maintain goals in the face of adversity. Even children from wealthy families need to learn self-discipline and the postponement of gratification. Parents can also help develop constructive attitudes about wealth and including children in estate planning can be a way of doing this. Estate planning can be a time of intergenerational dialogue on how to share the family's wealth.

Cut pay, and later, firms will do better
Article Abstract:
Corporate counsel have taken back some of the business they once gave outside counsel, but law firms may be able to win it back if they increase their cost-effectiveness. There are limits to the reductions possible in overhead costs, support staff costs and associate compensation, and some reductions will have to come from partners' share of the pie. Using Atlanta as an example, partner compensation there has gone up by at least 300% since the 1960s, and the business sector is unlikely to allow this to continue.
