Judge Wood built career on gender
Article Abstract:
Judge Kimba Wood, who spent time atop the short list for US attorney general after Zoe Baird removed herself from consideration, was a political naif in the way she handled herself. She failed to remember that in Washington perception is reality and that her nanny problems would be perceived as all too similar to Zoe Baird's even though they were not in a narrow legal sense. Her public explanation was disingenuous and did not flesh her character out in the public mind by injecting something personal.

Why judge resigned from ABA
Article Abstract:
A federal district judge tells why he decided to resign from the ABA. He sees increasing conflict between canons two and three of the Code of Judicial Conduct and membership in the ABA, since the code requires that a judge avoid affiliations that might make him appear influenced by partisan interests. By taking positions on controversial issues the ABA has to him become too much like a partisan organization.

Judge Wachtler's shame is punishment enough
Article Abstract:
Judge Sol Wachtler should receive a pardon on the charges of attempted extortion of his former lover Joy A. Silverman, the Republican fund-raiser. Extortion is a gender-neutral offense, and prosecutors and women's groups have indulged in some hyperbole by calling the situation a crime against women and example of sexual harassment. This was one aberration in the life of an otherwise upstanding man.
