Long-term health care
Article Abstract:
Reduced mortality and increasing life spans are leading to higher health care costs and a greater need for long-term health care. The number of carriers of long-term care insurance has grown from about 50 in 1988 to more than 130 in 1992. This type of insurance protects individuals' assets in the event of a long-term injury or illness and allows them to purchase home care and community care benefits. The public and private sectors must work together to develop the insurance market.

Article Abstract:
A positive future for the life insurance industry was the forecast generally given by life insurance company presidents responding to a survey made by the Life Office Management Assn. The summer 1996 survey results of executives in 60 countries show that positive insurance product taxes, technological innovations, and reduced social insurances will lead to industry successes over the next 5 years.
