Market protection against another oil shock
Article Abstract:
The use of risk-management contracts to protect consumers from the negative effects of oil price increases is a better and safer alternative to the use of US soldiers in defending oil wells in the Persian Gulf. Consumers can eliminate oil price fluctuations by purchasing swaps, average rate call options or customized contracts. An increase in energy derivative contracts will force financiers to acquire contracts from countries with low political risks.
