Mormons' impact on the law is singular; a coherent world view informs approach to lawmaking, lawsuits, the Constitution and lawyers
Article Abstract:
Mormons base their approach to the administration of justice and the Constitution on a coherent world view, including a conservative stand on social issues, a church culture emphasizing patience and reconciliation and thus the feeling that Mormons are not supposed to be quick to file suits. The jurisdiction of the church-run court system extended in the 19th century far beyond ecclesiastical matters. Polygamy is a high-profile Mormon practice which was officially abandoned in the 19th century, although some women's and children's rights advocates complain it is still widely practiced.

The preliminary injunction comes back in vogue; it can be less expensive for the patentee than the infringer, and a very valuable discovery tool
Article Abstract:
Preliminary injunctions have had a checkered history in the US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, with early rulings encouraging them, and a shift from 1989 to 1993, when the court approved no patent preliminary injunctions, due perhaps to concerns that the district courts had become too ready with to grant this relief to patentees. Since 1993, six of the reported preliminary injunction decisions have had a positive result. The rulings of the district courts on patent preliminary injunctions have paralleled Federal Circuit trends closely.
