My failure to be fair to the president: the first step is to recognize your own biases
Article Abstract:
Writer Nat Hentoff admits that his negative articles on Pres Clinton stems from his own anger at Clinton's constant attack of the Constitution. He cites policies such as the Communications Decency Act which would censor the Internet and anti-terrorism law that allows the deportation of aliens without disclosure on the evidence against them. However, he expresses support for other Clinton policies and does not discount the possibility that he might eventually write a favorable article on Clinton.

'Nannygate' and dragons of the IRS
Article Abstract:
The Zoe Baird controversy has raised questions of equity in IRS policy, with charges that tax policy places undue burdens on nonabusive taxpayers in its attempts to root out tax evasion. Retaining on the books a rule that taxpayers who spend $50 or more per qtr on household help also pay social security taxes on that help fails to factor in the effects of inflation. The tax obligation belongs to the self-employed household worker in this situation, not to the family-employer.
